Good News!
After being involved in Transport & Logistics since he was 15 years old, Jake (company director) finally made the time and effort to complete his HGV licences through Hindley Green LGV Training during August 2010.
Jake started his career as an apprentice LGV technician for a large parcel distribution company and always wanted to pass his tests. However he decided to make a detour and went into Transport Management first, gaining many numerous qualifications and working for some of the worlds biggest logistics companies.
It was such a proud time after having drove HGV's on yards and being shunt trained for many years.
Sponsoring BRAKE road safety charity
Complete Logistic Services Ltd support the work of BRAKE road safety and to prove this, we have decided to sponser a page on their website.
Please make an effort to use their site, it is an excellent educational tool for everyone.
We know only too well how much most drivers detest the idea of Driver CPC and we get all the usual comments at the start of every course with the typical pose, arms folded with a look of "what on earth are you going to teach me that I don't already know?".
Having recently taken on a large CPC training contract with a multi national distribution company, the feedback from the drivers has been exceptional. All of the courses start off with the drivers walking in with little or no enthusiasm but CLS managed to change this round. This course is about Drivers, recognising them for the true Professionals they really are. This encourages them to do a good job and take pride in saving fuel, wanting to know what their kilometres per litre score is and so on. Lets face it, without HGV drivers we wouldn't have anything!
So with this in mind, we want to promote the Driver CPC, whether you train with us at one of our many training rooms, located Nationwide or perhaps with another training provider, from feedback received from all of our courses, we want to encourage you, your drivers, agency drivers, self employed drivers to book on our taster seminar. This will give you the opportunity to see for yourself what the CPC is all about, meet the team and see our new site. We can even come to you and discuss your training concerns and needs. There is no pressure, no hard sell! We just want people to understand the benefits and how easy it is.
If you would like to view our feedback forms, see our scores and comments please feel free to ask.
Company Director Jake Bridge gave up his time attending a course to become a training ambassador for Brake, the Road Safety Charity. Complete Logistic Services wanted to show their support for the charity by volunteering to give young people between the ages of 15 and 25 road safety training.
If you're a teacher, lecturer, or work with young people and you'd like us to carry out a road safety workshop, please contact us for more details.

What constitutes a true and accurate record of a driver's working day?
The FTA recently highlighted VOSA's clarification regarding periods of time recorded on the tachograph chart. The FTA article was attempting to quell fears that drivers will be prosecuted for not showing at least 15 minutes‘other work’ before driving, as evidence that they have completed their ‘walk round’ checks. There are rumours that drivers will get a fixed penalty if no time is shown on their tachographs prior to driving. What the FTA have clarified is perfectly correct; ifsomeone else performed the ‘walk round’ check then no ‘other work’ needs to be shown. However, what the FTA failed to point out is that the information on a tachograph chart or digital card should be a true and accurate record of a driver’s working day. Any time spent at work before a driver inserts their chart or card must be recorded; it is an offence not to do so.
VOSA could issue a fixed penalty of £60.00 to a driver who fails to record on their charts or cards any periods of duty carried out before or after a chart or card was inserted, whether they did the ‘walk round’ check or not.
First Quarter: Graduated Fixed Penalty News.
Reports from the first quarter of the Graduated Fixed Penalty Scheme by VOSA has proven to be successful and the statistics are in;
11,000 fixed penalties issued, 800+ vehicles immobilised, £250,000+ in fines collected and more than 60% of these were to non UK drivers.
Let us know what you think of these statistics, we would love to hear from you, click here feedback form
WARNING! Driver CPC Exemption Cards. (Free information Pack).
VOSA are urging drivers not to fall for a new scam. It has been reported that Driver CPC exemption cards have gone on sale and can be bought easily on the internet for around £49. These cards have no legal validity! VOSA’s Traffic Enforcement Policy spokesman Peter McIntyre says: “Our enforcement officers would not use this card to check driver exemption as it has no legal validity. We don’t want drivers to be spending money on something they don’t need.”
If you are unsure of where you stand with regard to the Drivers CPC, please contact us for a FREE information pack.
Graduated Fixed Penalty issued by VOSA.
New Legislation introduced in April 2009 allows VOSA to issue fixed penalty points. This is a system whereby offenders are penalised for certain offences without having the need to go to Court.
The specified area's, in addition to existing legislation, the new legislation allows fixed penalties to be issued in relation to:
drivers hours and records
goods and passenger vehicle operator licensing
driver CPC
foreign vehicle prohibitions
vehicle prohibitions
overloading
This is something that all Operators and Drivers need to be aware of. Don't get caught out, be legally compliant at all times.
Driver CPC.
Many employers and owner drivers are still not aware of the Driver CPC legislation and exactly what is required. The Driver CPC is totally different from the Transport Manager / Operator CPC, so is therefore required to be taken whether you're qualified as a Transport Manager or not.

From 10th September 2009, all truck (LGV) drivers will have to gain this qualification by completing 35 hours of training before September 2014.
Licence categories are as follows: C1; C1+E; C; C+E.
